The BWH Center for Clinical Investigation
and the MGH Clinical Research Program assist sponsors
in identifying potential investigators in virtually every
therapeutic area. Both the BWH and MGH offer a network
of affiliated hospitals, a community-based primary care
practices and, single- and multi-specialty physician practice
groups. Our clinical research programs, lead by academic
physician thought leaders, bring a richness and depth
of resources to collaborations with industry scientists.
In addition, our investigators
have access to a unique resource - the Research
Patient Data Registry (RPDR)- which allows investigators
to assess the feasibility of conducting specific clinical
studies. The RPDR is a central clinical data registry
on 1.7 million MGH and BWH patients and 350 million diagnoses,
medications, and procedures including demographic and
visit information. With IRB approval, investigators can
obtain medical record data about specific patients in
the target population. The RPDR database includes demographic,
and diagnosis information on 90-98% of the total patient
population at BWH and MGH from 1993 to present.
Both the RPDR and the RSVP for
Health registry allow investigators to rapidly identify
persons who may be interested in participating in clinical
studies.
